Day 14 - Follow-up
I've been working toward spending at least 1 hour out of each day toward making follow up calls. By this I mean calling on the quotations that I've been giving out to try and earn that business. I've taken a spreadsheet that another co-worker has used for his work and have tweaked it to fit my needs. I find that looking at my entire funnel on one spreadsheet, keeping contact info and phone numbers on one page, and making notes for each contact all in one place really helps me to keep tabs on where to find my next piece of business. I'm hoping to develop this further to also track how much I'm quoting to each customer and how much of that work that is quoted to each customer actually turns into business or just ends up as wasted time. I hope this in-depth analysis will help me focus my efforts on spending more time with the right customers. I really need to find ways to work smarter not harder, and I need to learn that not every opportunity is worth my time. I know there are several contractors that I quote to on a regular basis that I realistically will see very little work out of over the course of a year. Maybe it's time to kick those opportunities to the curb and find some newer ones that I will have a higher closing percentage with.
